Why do you like the Race2Rio challenge?
I like the Race2Rio challenge because it gives me extra motivation to be more active. This is the first time I’ve used a Fitbit and it’s a great way to track my activity and weight goals. The chance to win a prize is an extra incentive.

How has the Race2Rio challenge impacted you?
I am more active on weekdays and during work because of the challenge. I mainly exercised on weekends but now I’ve been doing a lot more activity during the week. My goal is to do 80,000 steps for every week of the challenge (to help my team get to Rio).

What has been your greatest amount of steps in one day? What did you do?
The most steps I did in a day was 20,428 steps. The day before, I forgot to wear my Fitbit to work and wanted to make up my steps. I walked at work whenever I had the chance. Instead of watching TV at night, I walked on the treadmill for a few miles. This helped me get back on track.

Outside of walking, what other activities do you enjoy?
The other activities I enjoy are bicycling and kayaking. While kayaking, I have seen a deer swim across a lake and a doe taking a fawn to wade in the water to cool it on a hot Summer day. I also seen beavers, bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron, turtle and frogs up close.

What motivates you to stay active?
I’m motivated for health reasons. As I get older, it helps me to lose weight and keep the pounds off. When I am active, I feel better and it helps to keep my numbers in check.
